Owner stated this coat is from the 30's, I checked with the Carson Pirie Scott & Co Tribute Facebook group and they dated the label as 20's.
Vintage Black Velvet Opera Coat. Velvet outer, fur hood (unknown type), acetate lined.
Fur hood, lite princess shoulder pads, button front with inside tie, full maxi length.
No vintage size tag, would best fit a modern XS or S.
This piece was donated to a local Juniors Theatre group that I am selling for. There are some repairs- there are no odors, but the outside velvet could use a dry cleaning (buyer's discretion).
Issues:
- It looks as if the seams were open on the top of both shoulders, an improper outside stitch was used to repair- only seen when hood is up.
- Both underarms have seam repairs made with improper outside stitch- only seen with arms are lifted. There is a hand repair to the inside armhole.
- I do believe that the top is missing a button- there is one there, but it was either moved or there were two buttons- 2 snags were left to velvet where button may have originally been, and outside stitch used to repair. Only seen when coat is open.
- The velvet is a little rough on the back hem, looks as it something was splashed there
